This is a reminder for everyone that our second District Roundtable is
Thursday, October 9th at 7:30pm with doors opening at 7pm. Please plan
to attend or have a representative from your unit. The council store
will be there with new uniforms, hats, and other goodies to purchase.
They take check or cash (sorry no credit).

If you have any announcements that you want to be presented at this Thursday's roundtable, (Oct. 9th) please send them to Keith Miller at keith747@aol.com

If you have a flyer to be handed out as well, you can request Laura Kveen to make copies at the council office and have them available to hand out at the roundtable.

Yours in Scouting,
Cynthia Hesotian
Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner

Gov. Rod Blagojevich has announced plans to close 11 Illinois state parks on Nov. 1st. The official explanation is that he is trying to balance the budget but we sincerely believe there MUST be other ways to do so without losing some of our most precious natural resources.  Please take a few minutes and "sign" these petitions to prevent this from occurring and please pass this on to whomever.

and

Parks are a great way to spend one on one time with family and loved ones, or hang out with a group of friends for an annual picnic.

WE NEED OUR PARKS!!

Thanks for reading
this , and please sign both petitions.

Because of a conflict with a major school event MBU will be held on SAT. FEB 28, 2009 instead of March 7th, at York High School. Please change your calendars accordingly and keep others in your troop informed about the event.

District Executive – Potawatomi Trails

As the new District Executive for the Potawatomi Trails District, I
wanted to take some time to introduce myself to you. My name is Laura
Kveen (pronounced queen) and I have moved to Illinois about 3 months
ago, currently residing in Batavia. I am originally from Wisconsin and
my family still lives there. I attended Wisconsin Lutheran College in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated with a degree in Communication with
emphasis’ in public relations, mass communications, and multicultural
studies. Additionally, I studied American Sign Language to complete my
education.

Most recently, I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician  for the
Lannon Fire Department, earning EMT of the Year after 5 ˝ years of
service. I have also worked for the Walt Disney Company and Universal
Studios in Florida as a lighting designer and pyrotechnics
technician.

My four cats rule the house and love human time whenever they can get
it. They are all rescues from various places. I love to scuba dive and
am involved in other various outdoor activities. Last year I completed
my first Triathlon.

I am looking forward to spending time meeting everyone and getting to
learn more about the district. Please feel free to see if I am in if
you stop by the council offices or give me a call to introduce your
selves. I will be seeing many of you at upcoming events and meetings.
