Key Four

  The District Committee is headed by the "Key 4":

  The District Chairman and Vice-Chairman are responsible for holding and presiding over the monthly District Committee meetings, identifying and filling positions on the District Committee and providing support and resources for all District volunteers and Unit volunteers.

  The District Commissioner supervises the corps of Unit Commissioners, and the Roundtable Commissioners and Staff, with the ultimate goal of providing service to units.

  The District Executive is a paid employee of the Boy Scouts of America who represents our District at Three Fires Council, and ensures that the volunteer staff in the District has the resources needed to deliver the Scouting program.

Unit Commissioners

   The Commissioner Corps provides service to units. Your Unit commissioner will provide assistance in the annual re-chartering process. Unit Commissioners are assigned to assist individual units, and can provide units with the experience and knowledge required to solve many unit "problems".

Roundtable Commissioners

    Roundtables are monthly meetings for all Scout leaders and parents.  Roundtable staff provide commissioner service and supplemental training for volunteers in all Scouting programs.

  Roundtable will:

bullet

Teach you how to deliver a better Scouting program for your boys;

bullet

Keep you up-to-date on District and Council events;

bullet

Provide the opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scout leaders and parents.

  There are separate meetings for Cub Scout leaders/parents and Boy Scout leaders/parents.

The Basic Leader Training program is the culmination of more than two years of work by professionals and volunteers from throughout the nation. Their goal was to revise and update the volunteer leader training materials for the Boy Scouts of America. The result is a seamless training program that helps leaders easily graduate through the courses quickly and with little duplication.

The package provides the district training committee with tools to achieve 100 percent trained unit volunteers. It begins with the existing Fast Start training, continues through New Leader Essentials, and is followed by Leader Specific training for each adult's role in the unit.
